What a cool experience! I thought it was so insightful that you parallel your experience with attending a concert. Nothing can compare to hearing an artist live share their work and especially getting to learn the back story or the reasoning behind their words.
I was also skeptical about going to my first poetry reading! There was something special about hearing Irwin explain his inspiration and the true content of his poems.
